In The News-January 2010
The Artistic Directors have been busy indeed with teaching and professional work. Following is overview of what we've been up to:
Catherine Albers-Case Western Reserve University-recently appeared in ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL at The Cleveland Playhouse with her third-year MFA graduate candidates. In addition to her teaching duties in spring semester, Catherine will be serving as Acting Coach for the first-year MFA graduate candidate's production of CLOUD NINE and directing an undergraduate production of THE GREAT NEBULA IN ORION.
Mark Monday-Kent State University-recently appeared in INHERIT THE WIND at The Cleveland Playhouse. Mark will direct THE GRAPES OF WRATH for KSU in spring semester and will teach several acting classes. Last summer he appeared in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM at Porthouse Theatre and taught acting in the inaugural Porthouse Musical Theatre Academy.
In November, 2009, Catherine and Mark team-taught a successful Audtioning Workshop utilizing the techniques of Michael Chekhov. The workshop took place at The Cleveland Playhouse.
Lionel Walsh-University of Windsor-performed the role of Lyle in WHALE RIDING WEATHER at the at the Brighton Festival Fringe and the Peninsula Arts Series, Plymouth, UK, under the direction of M. Chekhov specialist, Sarah Kane. His directing projects include a fall production of DOWN DANGEROUS PASSES ROAD, which will tour to the Brighton Festival Fringe in May, 2010. Currently, Lionel is working on a production of THE BLIND with his second-year students. In summer, he will direct SALT-WATER MOON for the Point Pelee Days Inn Theatre. He continues to experiment with the technique of Fantastic Realism as an actor, director, and teacher.
