When is the conference? How long is it?
Conference meets the first full week of June through Saturday afternoon
First-year students (Mod 1) meet Monday morning
Second-year students (Mod 2) arrive one day earlier on Sunday afternoon
Third-year students (Mod 3) arrive one day earlier on Saturday
What’s a Mod?
Mod, or Module, is simply the unit of training, i.e., Mod 1=first year, Mod 2=second year, Mod 3=third year
How much does it cost (cost of previous year for reference) and what do I get for that?
First-year/Mod 1 – $1,190.00
Second-year/Mod 2 – $1,290.00
Third year/Mod 3 – $1,390.00
Cost covers: room (private bedroom and private bath) in Kent State University dorm, linens, and food card. Parking tag costs $10
Is there a commuter option?
Yes! Commuter cost - $885.00 (cost of previous year for reference; no meal cards). Parking tag costs $10
What will I have at the culmination of the 3rd Module/year?
GLMCC is a certification program in coordination with Kent State University
There are 2 ‘track’ options: Teacher track, and Actor track. Mod 1 curriculum is the same for both tracks; at the end of Mod 1, students choose either the Teacher or Actor track after consultation with GLMCC faculty
What should I pack?
Session clothing: Comfortable studio attire allowing for movement exercises and possible floor work with layers to accommodate temperature variables. We also sell logo tee shirts there each year for $20 (previous year cost).
Footwear: You may choose to work barefoot, or in flat soft-soled dance shoes. In the largest of the 3 studio spaces you may also wear sneakers.
Session items: Textbook(s), notebook (you are welcome to take notes). Optional items: water bottle, yoga mat.
Free time clothing: Many students choose to eat in restaurants in downtown Kent and do so either in their studio clothes or in casual street wear.
Dorm room: Each room has a Spartan set of towels and sheets and a thin cotton blanket; toilet paper is provided. Also equipped with a bunk bed and mattress, desk and chair, a small fridge and microwave, as well as several light fixtures and a thermostat for temperature control. Returning students sometimes bring extra blankets or pillows, ear plugs/headphones, electric tea kettle, mug/bowl/plate/silverware, lanyard for key card, etc. No toiletries are provided.
When I arrive, what should I be prepared to do?
Registration is in the lobby of the Kent State Center for Performing Arts, 1325 Theatre Dr, Kent, OH 44242
GLMCC Production Manager will assist registrants with a welcome packet, key and meal cards, parking passes, etc. (early or later arrivals can be accommodated with prior arrangement)
Dorm room/accommodations info:
Private single Kent State dorm room with private bathroom
Key card for building/room
Provided: thin towels/sheets/blanket; toilet paper
Room details: bunk bed and mattress, desk and chair, small fridge and microwave; several fluorescent lights; thermostat for temperature control

Meal/meal card (KSU Flash card) info:
Lunch break=90 minutes (1 ½ hours)
Dinner break=105 minutes (1 hour 45 minutes)
A KSU Flash card is provided to you preloaded with money
On-campus: bagels, sandwiches, salads, pizza, burgers, sushi, coffee; dining hall with multiple options
Local (1 mile from campus): downtown Kent has multiple options
Vegetarian and gluten free available on-campus and off
Acme Fresh Market grocery store (less than 1 mile from campus) also takes food card
Sample day/daily schedule:
9:00-9:30 am: Teacher track student-led warmup (content ranges from gentle yoga-type stretching to active group exercises)
9:30-9:45 am: Break
9:45-12:00 pm: Morning session (at least 1 break during that session)
12:00-1:30 pm: Lunch break
1:30-2:00 pm: Teacher track student-led warmup
2:00-2:15 pm: Break
2:15-5:15 pm: Afternoon session (at least 1 break during that session)
5:15-7:00 pm: Dinner break
7:00-9:00 pm: Evening session (1 break during that session)
Printed versions of the conference daily schedule will be provided in your welcome packet
Many people choose to gather for casual socializing in the dorm lounge areas following the day’s training
Binders/rubrics:
Learning objective rubrics provided before conference
Mid-week one-on-one consultation between student and teachers
Notes may be taken during sessions (kept in binders) to facilitate consultations and as tools for dialogue and growth through the process
Consultation is an opportunity to receive and give individual feedback and discuss certification path
Final Saturday events:
9:00-1:00 pm (with an internal break)
